Prologue: Boundaries, Redefining the Landscape
The enduring dilemma of high-end stays lies in balancing absolute seclusion with unobstructed openness. When walls are raised to secure rest, the sea is obscured; when walls are removed to embrace the view, privacy is inevitably compromised. Is it possible to claim a deeply personal relationship with the sea—without diminishing the beauty of the coastal road or inviting the intrusion of outside gazes?
Aphae De Sel responds to this question with an architectural proposition grounded in the reinterpretation of boundaries. Here, walls are not instruments of separation, but mediators of relationships, gently connecting nature and architecture. Boundaries, rewritten in an affirmative architectural language, become frames in themselves—and through these frames, the blue sea of Shinan is ultimately revealed as a completed landscape.
하이엔드 스테이의 영원한 딜레마는 ‘완벽한 고립’과 ‘탁 트인 개방감’ 사이의 줄타기입니다. 쉼을 위해 담을 높이 쌓으면 바다는 가려지고, 뷰를 위해 벽을 허물면 타인의 시선이 침범합니다. 해안도로의 아름다운 풍광을 해치지 않으면서, 가장 내밀하게 나만의 바다를 소유할 방법은 없을까요?
아페드셀(Aphae de Sel)이 물음에 대해 ‘경계의 재해석’이라는 건축적 해답을 내놓습니다. 이곳에서 벽은 단절의 도구가 아닙니다. 자연과 건축을 부드럽게 이어주는 ‘관계의 매개체’입니다. 긍정의 언어로 다시 쓰인 경계는 그 자체로 하나의 프레임이 되고, 신안의 푸른 바다는 이 프레임을 통해 비로소 완성된 풍경화가 됩니다.
Landscape: The Island’s Time, Spreading Like Ink Wash
Without cutting into the steeply sloped terrain, the architecture settles into the land with quiet intelligence—its presence both humble and resolute. Standing in the courtyard and looking toward the sea, even the seaweed-farming poles rising casually from the water appear as elements of an ink-wash painting. This is the visual alchemy orchestrated by Aphae de Sel.
Turning westward, the monumental Cheonsa Bridge comes into view. Beyond it, the crimson descent of the setting sun makes palpable the moment of leaving the mainland and entering the extraordinary realm of the island. Wind, light, and the scent of the sea flow between the buildings, awakening the traveler’s senses in layered and immersive ways.
가파른 경사 지형을 깎아내지 않고 슬기롭게 내려앉은 건축물의 자태는 겸손하면서도 단단합니다. 마당에 서서 바다를 바라보면, 바다 위에 무심하게 꽂힌 김 양식 지주대마저 한 폭의 수묵화처럼 다가옵니다. 이는 빌라드셀이 부리는 시각의 마법입니다.
서쪽으로 시선을 돌리면 웅장한 천사대교가 마주합니다. 다리 너머로 붉게 떨어지는 낙조는 우리가 육지를 떠나 ‘섬’이라는 비일상의 공간에 들어와 있음을 실감케 합니다. 바람과 빛, 그리고 바다 내음이 건축물 사이를 흐르며 여행자의 감각을 입체적으로 깨웁니다.
